'A mission to make customer identity more primary than citizenship'
Recent technologies have enabled the role of customer to be fused with the newer role of user, who inhabits an entire system rather than a specific transaction. We dream of being creators, friends, neighbors, or citizens, but rarely of being customers.

The customer role used to be temporary and specific — buying something from a seller — and not an aspirational identity. What happened?
